Bright Start at Mid-Coast Presbyterian Church offers a wonderful mix of nurture and enrichment. Accepting children ages 2 1/2 through 5, we offer age-appropriate programming on many levels. Our basic child care program, which provides the foundation for all other programming, offers safety and fun in a stimulating environment. Part of our early childhood philosophy, recognizes that in the early years, play is a child’s greatest learning tool. At Bright Start, teachers and caregivers support and encourage children’s imaginative and self-directed play. Children in care at Bright Start have many opportunities every day for “choice time” (self-directed play time) and exploration.
We offer a morning Preschool program, an afternoon K-Ready program for those entering kindergarten the following year, and full day care which includes both of these programs. Included in our preschool program is a special weekly music enrichment module and experiences on the Tumble Bus during the winter months to provide tumbling and gross motor activities. We also take advantage of many "outside" activities such as field trips to the library, Portland Symphony Orchestra KinderKonzerts, and visits to retirement communities for intergenerational activities.
Although we have a non-sectarian curriculum, Bright Start offers tuition assistance to income eligible families as a mission of Mid-Coast Presbyterian Church. If you think you may qualify for this service, please contact the Director as soon as possible for more information.
