Description

Hi, my name is Naisha F. Smith and I am the director, owner and caregiver at The Learning Playhouse. For the past ten (10) years I have been a Senior Paralegal at a Law Office in Center City. I am a parent of two (2) and have been a resident of Northeast Philadelphia for the past three and a half years.

My experience as a caregiver comes from nine (9) years of being a parent, taking care of nieces, nephews and cousins, helping my mother when she was running her own family day care center as well as caring for many of my friends children.

My dedication to The Learning Playhouse comes from some of my own concerns I had when looking for child care for my children. The biggest problem I had was wanting a family home day care that looked like and had all the benefits of a child care center. No such luck!!! I felt like the child care centers couldn’t give my children the individual attention and care they became accustomed to at home. Some of the home-based centers didn’t offer enough stimulation, manipulation or the building blocks I felt my children needed. After many days of returning home frustrated and upset because I still had not found quality child care, I started questioning myself “Are my expectations to high”? It was at that point that I decided to put my frustrations and thoughts down on paper; thus forming The Learning Playhouse, Inc.

At the Learning Playhouse my goal for quality child care is to provide your child with a safe, comfortable, clean, home-like environment. The children in my care will receive love, guidance, and understanding enabling them to grow socially and intellectually. Children learn best in a supportive atmosphere where self-esteem and respect is given. On a daily basis your child will learn patience, responsibility, and compassion. Through imaginative play, language, creative art, and most importantly fun, a child can express themselves which will lead them into a bright future.
